Chirewa Scores On Ipswich Town Opening Day Victory
England-born teenage star Tawanda Chirewa kicked off his Professional Development league season for Ipswich Town with a goal as the team came from behind to win 3-1 against Wigan Athletic on Monday.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder who has been Involved with the first team during the past pre-season training, scored a spectacular curling effort from 20-yards into the far corner to seal a 3-1 victory over Wigan Athletic.
The young Blues started slow as Wigan Athletic went ahead to lead 1-0 in the first half through a penalty, but goals from Fraser Alexander, Gerard Buabo in the 49th and 61st minutes respectively, staged a second half come back for Ipswich Town before Chirewa increased the lead in the 77th minutes.
The talented youngster was one of the top performers for the U23s during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring 12 times as the side coached by ex West Ham midfielder Kieron Dyer and then John McGreal topped Professional Development League Two South.
Chirewa is among the many talented youngsters born or bred in the diaspora who have shown interest to represent Zimbabwe Warriors at senior international.
He is reportedly on the radar of Arsenal and West Ham F.C.
