Brighton Hove Eyeing Potential Move For Munetsi

English Premier League side Brighton Hove & Albion are reportedly interested in making a move for Stade Reims and Zimbabwe midfieder Nyasha Marshall Munetsi this summer, with manager Graham Potter seeking to make a replacement for Yves Bissouma who left for Tottenham.

According to UK publicaction the Daily Mail, Brighton Hove have already made contact with Reims enquiring about the midfieder’s availability.

The Zimbabwe international, who turned 26 on Wednesday, has been impressive in the French Ligue 1 where his statistics have compared favourably with some of the best midfielders in the country – notably the likes of Aurelien Tchouameni who joined Real Madrid from Monaco earlier this month and Boubacar Kamara who left Marseille for Aston Villa.

Despite injuries Munetsi has had an impressive season in the Ligue 1 due to his enormous workrate and the distance he covers on the pitch. The Warriors midfieder has also contributed in goalscoring form at Reims this season – scoring five goals from midfield in 23 appearances.

“Brighton’s analysts are understood to have reported favourably along with scouts and he is under consideration as they look to fill the void left by Yves Bissouma’s departure to Tottenham, ” read the report.

Munetsi has been with the Champagne side since 2019, having signed from South Africa’s Dstv premiership side Orlando Pirates.

The Zimbabwean who is an integral part of Stade Reims squad, was recently tied to another contract extension in May 2022 that will see the midfielder at the French outfit until 2026.

But it is reported that Reims are willing to let go their rising star for an amount not less than £7million.

Munetsi was once linked to English Championship side Derby County in the previous season, but the former Cape Ubuntu star opted to remain in the Ligue 1.

It remains to be seen whether Brighton Hove will be able to convince Stade Reims to let go their rising star.

In the English Premier League, Munetsi will join Marvelous Nakamba (Aston Villa) and Jordan Zemura (Bournemouth), the only two Zimbabweans currently representing the country in the top league.
