Naka Impresses As Villa Ends Everton’s Good Start To The Season

Warriors midfielder Marvelous Nakamba put on a solid performance to help Aston Villa keep a clean sheet and register their second win of the season against unbeaten Everton at Villa Park on Saturday.

The 27-year-old came in the 38th minutes to replace John McGinn who was substituted for fear of concussion after suffering a head injury and partnered Douglas Luis and Jacob Ramsey in the midfield.

Nakamba was crucial in keeping possession and linking up play in the midfield with a 96% pass accuracy rate and made two vital interceptions to deny Everton a chance on goal and hand them their loss in five games.

The Hwange-born midfielder initiated the ball that led to Aston Villa’s first goal after he played the ball to Ings who finds Douglas Luis before sending a through ball to Matt Cash for his first goal for Villa.

Jamaican star Leon Bailey was the star of the match after coming on in the second half as a substitute to inspire the win an own goal by Digne from his corner kick and galazo of a goal from the 18-yard area to seal a 3-0 win before substituted for a suspected groin injury.

The result moves Villa up to 10th in the Premier League while Everton’s first defeat leaves them in fifth place ahead of the weekend’s remaining fixtures.

It is Nakamba’s fourth appearance in the Premier League after five matches so far this season.
