Dinha Blasts Warriors’ Display Against South Africa

Former Zimbabwe Warriors and Orlando Pirates midfielder Edelbert Dinha has hit out at the senior national team’s ‘disappointing’ performance during Friday’s goalless draw against inexperienced Bafana Bafana in the 2022 FIFA world cup qualifiers at the National Sports Stadium.

The Warriors who were missing a number of key players due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, were perhaps lucky to escape with a point, after a new look Bafana Bafana squad dominated play and had better chances to win the game.

Zimbabwe Warriors failed to dominate the young Bafana Bafana squad that had less than five players in their squad with more than ten international games on their belts, and former Warriors international Edelbert Dinha criticised the ‘poor performance’ and is not convinced by coach Logarusici.

“It’s a disappointing result for us, only getting one point from this game. It’s two points dropped for us”, said former Orlando Pirates captain Dinha in an interview with South Africa’s SAFM Sports show soon after the game.

“Even though we were missing a number of players today, we should have won the game”, said Dinha

The 48-year-old Dinha who is now based in South Africa and works as a player agent is was also critical of coach Loga’s tactics.

“I’m not impressed by the coaching of the Zimbabwe Coach Loga. There have been some poor results under him, especially at Cosafa. Zimbabweans expect more from their team and today against Bafana was not good”, said Dinha

Zdravko Logarusici has been in charge of the Warriors for thirteen games since his appointment so far and has won only one game, five draws and six defeats.

The Warriors are currently third in group G. Ghana are leading the group after their 1-0 win over Ethiopia on Friday night.

The Warriors will travel to Addis Ababa to play Ethiopia on Tuesday 6 September 2021. Only the group winner goes to the final play-off Round.
