Warriors midfield maestro Marvelous Nakamba has proven he is by far the most effective midfielder at Aston Villa at the moment, despite not starting in every game.
According to Birmingham Live’s Ashley Preece, the 26-year-old Zimbabwe star midfielder has made an incredible (50) tackles and (30) ball Interceptions from 19 games making him the most effective midfielder in breaking up play compared to other midfielders, Conor Hourihane and Danny Drinkwater.
The Irish midfielder, Hourihane has been successfully taken on eight times in his 16 appearances whilst Danny Drinkwater has been dribbled past 16 times managing only (5) tackles in his four appearances.
In Aston Villa’s disappointing 2-3 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, Drinkwater started the match and made just one tackle and a single Interceptions before substituted in the 60th minutes.
Marvelous Nakamba, who came in as a substitute, put in two tackles, made three interceptions and blocked a goal-bound shot in 30 minutes after replacing Drinky, again proving his effectiveness in the middle of the park for Villa.
It is now to be seen whether Coach Dean Smith will continue his faith in starting Drinkwater or return to his tried and tested choice, Nakamba.
