Zimbabwe Warriors Players In Top Form Ahead of International Fixtures
As the Zimbabwe Warriors gear up for their upcoming international fixtures against South Africa and Lesotho, there is a palpable sense of excitement surrounding the squad. Many players have been in exceptional form with their respective clubs, showcasing their talents and contributing significantly to their teams. This report highlights key players who are expected to make a substantial impact in the upcoming matches.
Key Players in Top Form.
Washington Arubi
The 40-year-old Zimbabwe goalkeeper, was the hero as Marumo Gallants stunned Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday in the South African League Cup by winning on penalties.
Arubi saved three spot kicks and then converted the penalty that gave Marumo a 7-6 victory in the first round tie after a 0-0 draw following extra time.
Munashe Garananga
The Danish-based defender who has been doing well for the club this season, scored his first goal of the season as Copenhagen drew 1-1 against Midtjylland on Sunday to secure a point for the team in the Superliga.
Marshall Nyasha Munetsi
Munetsi has been in incredible form for Wolves of late scoring in the EFL cup win against Everton a couple of weeks ago. He played another influential role for the team as they drew 1-1 against Tottenham before unleashing an impressive shot which the goalie failed to control and went straight into the net as Wolves drew 1-1 against Brighton & Hove on Sunday.
Jonah Fabisch
Fabisch has been outstanding in the midfield for Azerbaijan Aue ever since he recovered from the injury that forced him to miss the last international break fixtures against Benin and Rwanda. The Zimbabwean midfielder has been undroppable in the first eleven of the team starting in all 9 matches he has played so far this season. His last feature was on Sunday, playing the entire game as his team drew 2-2 against RW Essen.
Tawanda Chirewa
Although Chirewa still needs to secure a place in the first team at Wolves his performances at the reserve side are something positive going forward. The 21-year-old winger has been making waves at the development side, recently scoring the equalizer in the side’s 1-1 draw against RB Leipzig a week ago.
Tawanda Maswanhise
Scottish-based forward has been in excellent form scoring important goals for Motherwell F.C. He has so far scored three goals in seven league matches. The Zimbabwean forward was again in good form playing a full game and gave an assist as Motherwell narrowly lost 3-2 to Scottish giants Celtics on Sunday in a league match.
Tandowenkosi Ngwenya
South African-based striker Thando Ngwenya is in a rich vein of form for Betway Premier League side Amazulu after scoring his fourth goal of the season in eight matches recently against giants Kaizer Chiefs. He is expected to lead the Warriors’ line against Bafana Bafana.
There are a lot of players we did not mention here but are currently in good form for their clubs, like Prince Dube who has been scoring for Yanga in Tanzania. This, coupled with the appointment of Kaitano Tembo to assist Michael Nees brought confidence and something to look forward to for the team in the remaining World Cup fixtures before they travel to Morocco for the Africa Cup of Nations in December.
Meanwhile, local-based Warriors including veterans Khama Billiat and Knowledge Musona are already in South Africa where they are preparing to play Bafana Bafana on the 10th of October at Moses Mabhida Stadium before they square off against Lesotho on the 13th of October at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane to conclude their international fixtures for the month.
