Nyasha Mushekwi Could Record His Best Scoring Season At Yukun
Former Zimbabwe Warriors forward Nyasha Mushekwi could break his record for most league goals in a season after scoring a brace in yesterday’s 3-2 loss to ShiJiazhuang Gongfu in the Chinese League One encounter.
The brace which is his fifth of the season was scored in both halves (12′, 72′ minutes) as they suffered their third defeat of the season however taking his tally to 22 goals and three assists in 27 league games so far this season in what could be his most productive campaign ever.
The 37-year-old netted 23 goals in 32 matches for Zhejiang Green Town in the 2020/21 Season, which is his current best. He scored 18 goals last season for Zhejiang and continued to score 7 goals more in the 2024 AFC Champions League Elite with Zhejiang before moving to the newly promoted league one side Yunnan Yukun.
Mushekwi has continued to prove unstoppable for Yunnan Yukun in the Chinese League One scoring a goal in almost every match he played this season.
He has scored a goal in every 116 minutes of the total 2430 minutes he has been on the pitch for Yunnan Yukun in the league this season.
With three more games remaining to play until the end of the 2024 campaign, Mushekwi who is in incredible scoring form could surely surpass his best-scoring season of 23 goals according to his current XG (Expected Goals ratio).
Yun̈an Yukun is on top of the log with 63 points from 28 games, 6 points clear of second-placed Dalian Yingbo who are on 51 points from 27 matches and is mostly guaranteed to win promotion to Super League as log leaders in what could end up a bumper harvest for Mushekwi who is also in line to scoop the Chinese League One Golden Boot Award as he is seven goals clear of second-placed Brazilian Naldo of Suzhou Dongwu who scored 16 goals so far this season with only two rounds remaining to play before the end of the season.
