Kadewere Could Make His Real Mallorca Debut Against Girona
Tinotenda Kadewere could be handed his historical debut in Real Mallorca’s encounter against newly promoted Girona on Saturday – as the Lyon forward prepares to become the first Zimbabwean to play in the Spanish Laliga.
The 26-year-old former Ligue 2 golden boot winner with Le Havre in 2019, is in line to feature against Girona after receiving his work permit.
With Amath Ndiaye, Angel Rodríguez, Iddrisu Baba and Dominik Greif out due to injuries, there is a huge possibility that coach Javier Aguirre could turn to his new signing- Tino Kadewere to give cover for the team’s main striking partnership of Vedat Muriqi and Kang-in Lee.
Kadewere’s participation will of course depend on his fitness and whether the manager decides he is ready.
If he does not feature against Girona, the next opportunity for him to make his debut would be against Laliga’s record champions Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu next weekend.
Real Mallorca will be looking to consolidate their first win with another victory at home against Girona who are also hit by several injuries to their regular starters.
Mallorca have played three Laliga games so far this season drawing 0-0 against Athletic Club in their opening encounter and a loss against Real Betis Balompe before recording their first victory of the season in last weekend’s 2-0 win versus another Laliga new comers Rayo Vallecano.
If Kadewere features today, he will become the first Zimbabwean player to play in the Spanish Laliga.
