AFC Bournemouth Hoping For Good News On The Extent Of Zemura’s Injury
AFC Bournemouth coach Scott Parker will be hoping for good news on the extent of Jordan Zemura’s Injury.
The 22-year-old Zimbabwe left-back was forced to hobble off the pitch with a suspected hamstring injury towards the end of Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Sheffield United.
Zemura is due to undergo advanced digital imaging scans to examine the extent of his injury.
Should the scans show he has pulled the muscle, it is likely he will miss the remainder of the campaign
And it will be a big blow for the Cherries who still have eight games left to play to guarantee promotion to the English Premier League next season.
Speaking to Dorset live, the Cherries coach blamed fixture congestion – where they had to play 10 games inside 36 days- for Zemura’s Injury, although he is still hoping for the better for the talented left-back.
“I’m not surprised because you’re asking a human being to play in a three-game week and two of them are away games ,” said Parker, complaining about reduced time for his players’ turnaround and subsequent recovery time.
“These players are humans and soft tissue injuries come through fatigue, they come from being overworked and it looks like Jordan may have suffered with a hamstring injury.
“I worried about that a little bit before the game. Those were the things on my mind really in that sense. I know how fit my squad are. We are the fittest factually in this division. The intensity we play at, I know those demands are pretty high. It’s just a shame today Jordan has had to suffer a little bit in the back end.
“I’m gutted for Jordan. I thought he was very good today. I might be speaking too prematurely because it might not be as bad as we think, but it doesn’t look good initially, “said Parker
Zemura has had a fantastic breakthrough season for the Cherries, featuring in 30 out of the team’s 40 games so far and scoring three goals in the process.
The Cherries have won 20 games, drawn seven and lost just three times when the Zimbabwean has been involved, meaning he’s got one of the best wins to appearance ratios in the division.
