Mapeza Names Warriors Provisional Squad For Ghana

Zimbabwe Warriors caretaker coach Norman Mapeza has finally announced his 24-man Provisional squad to face Ghana in a back-to-back World cup qualifiers on the 9th and 12th October.

The squad includes England based players who are only available for the first encounter in Ghana due to UK’s Covid-19 restrictions.

Ghana is on the amber list for entering England, which means players are exempted for the two weeks quarantine required for those coming from UK’s red list zone (Zimbabwe included).

Inform Wigan Athletic right-back Tendayi Darikwa, Bournemouth’s Jordan Zemura, Aston Villa’s Marvelous Nakamba and Huston Dynamo defender Teenage Hadebe returned to the squad after missing first round matches against South Africa and Ethiopia early September.

Plymouth Argyle defender Brendan Galloway is in line for his Warriors debut after included in squad.

Underrated Azam midfielder Never Tigere whom Mapeza regards highly is also in the squad.

Mapeza has also called in FC Platinum’s Rahman Kutsanzira and Kelvin Madzongwe who were active in the CAF Champions League, as the only local based players in the squad.

However Zimbabwe are currently engaged in negotiations with the relative authorities to allow the England based players for the Harare tie on the 12th of October.
