Mapisa’s Zamora CF Through To The Final Promotional Playoffs
Zimbabwean goalkeeper Martin Mapisa ‘s Zamora CF made a huge step towards their dream to the Spanish Second tier after making it through to the final play-off to gain promotion to Second Division A.
Zamora who were placed in group I of the promotional playoffs before Sunday’s final encounter, needed nothing less than a victory to get into the top three qualifying spots and the team did not disappoint as they claim a dramatic late 2-3 win away to Cultural Leonesa to sneak into the final promotional playoff phase for the sixth time in their history.
Mapisa’s team finished the promotional round, Group I on third position with 40 points from 24 games separated by goal difference with second placed Celta B who also finished on 40 points from the same number of games.
Burgos topped group I after accumulating 50 points from 24 games.
Zamora will find out their next opponent in the promotional playoffs after the draw on Monday afternoon.
All qualified 16 teams will be drawn together with the best placed teams seeded to play the worst placed.
Having finished third, Zamora will likely drawn against teams who finished in first or second place in their respective group to progress to the next round.
Other teams qualified include, Real Sociedad B, Barcelona B, Bilbao Athletic, Castilla and Celta B, just to name a few.
All matches will be played at neutral venues with Extramendula region of Spain chosen to host the playoffs which begins this coming weekend.
