Marvelous Nakamba could be on his way out of Aston Villa this summer transfer as he appears to have fallen out of favour in the eyes of manager Steven Gerrard.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 28-year-old Zimbabwean midfielder was not part of the squad that opened the premier league season for Aston Villa in their 2-0 loss to Jordan Zemura’s AFC Bournemouth last week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nakamba only featured few times in Aston Villa’s preseason matches before overshadowed by the arrival of French midfieder Boubacar Kamara from Marseille whom Gerrard is now preferring for the defensive midfield role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Zimbabwean has been relegated further down the pecking order ahead of Boubacar Kamara and David Luiz in the defensive midfield position. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kamara (22) made his Aston Villa debut in a 1-0 win over Leeds United in a pre-season friendly and has been the preferred choice ever since, featuring in matches including against Australia’s A-league side Brisbane Roar and Manchester United during pre-season training before opening the league against Bournemouth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AthleticUK<\/em> sports reporter and Aston Villa writer Gregg Evans confirmed that, “offers will be listened to for Marvelous Nakamba, Bertrand Traore, Keinan Davis, and Frederic Gilbert.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although no club has publicly shown interest for Nakamba at the moment, the Zimbabwean will not run out of suitors considering his performances in the premier league so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former Club Brugge man raised his game to a new level back in the closing stages of last year with a series of gritty displays that helped others around him flourish before suffering an injury that proved a big blow for both the club and the player. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most fans were anticipating for his return and his brief involvement in the opening stages of preseason brought confidence and precedence of a good season among supporters as it is no secret that an all-action number 6 like Nakamba is key to the way Gerrard sets up his team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the fact that Villa are even discussing Nakamba possibly leaving for good – putting their comfort in new midfieder Kamara and David Luiz who struggled during Nakamba’s absence last season, might come back to bite the club more than it already did in the first game. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
