Zim Foreign Based Team Of The Week 4

The past week was a bit difficult to come up with the best XI as there was no much action at club level due to ‘international break’, but however we did what we could to come up with outstanding players – those that represented the country with pride and also doing well for their respective clubs. Without wasting much time let’s dive right through into our best XI of the week to find out who represented the country with a distinction.

Let’s take our hats of to congratulate the following players for their outstanding performance. We say to them – keep up the good work and continue to improve and make Zimbabwe football fans proud.

Goalkeeper – Marley Tavaziva (Brentford F. C)

This youngster here is fast growing into a top professional goalkeeper. The 18-year-old British-born shot-stopper, who recently pledged his international alligiance to Zimbabwe, has all what it takes to be Warriors number one in near future. He has been recently elevated to the reserve side and was involved in the senior team training in the week that ended after catching the eyes of senior team coaches. For that he is our goalkeeper of the week.

Right -Back – Tivonge Rushesha (Reading F. C)

The former Swansea defender who can also play as a midfielder has grown into a competitive player for the senior team ever since he moved to Reading in the English Championship league in August – featuring in 2 league games this season and two EFL cup matches. The 19-year-old was again in outstanding form as he helped Reading crush Swindon 5-0 in the EFL trophy on Tuesday. He made 92% pass accuracy rate as he dominated the midfield registering a 7.1 sofarscore rating.

Left-Back – Gilroy Chimwemwe (TP Mazembe)

Chimwemwe is one of underrated yet effective and very reliable left-back in the country. He is currently enjoying his football in DR Congo featuring for the top side TP Mazembe. He played well on the left-back position making crucial defensive actions to keep a clean sheet as his team beat US Tshinkunku F. C 3-0 in a league match on Saturday.

Defender – Jordan Zemura (Udanese F. C)

JZ is slowly making in roads into the Udanese first eleven after getting another start at the club and playing 68 minutes as the team drew 1-all against Rijeka in a friendly encounter. JZ was impressive as usual, making his bursting runs along the touch line and delivering good crosses before coming off in the 68th minutes. He is improving tremendously.

Midfielder – Jonah Fabisch – (Madgerburg)

Jonah Fabisch was involved once again for the senior team as the German Bundesliga 2 side beat Braunschweig 4-2 in a club friendly encounter with Fabisch scoring the team’s fourth goal in the 90+3 minutes – a beautiful goal from the midfield position.

Midfielder – Abubakar Moffat – (El Palo)

Baka has now grown into a formidable defensive midfielder. He has so much energy and is good on the ball and controls the midfield ‘Makhelele style’. He was once again on top of his form as El Palo registered maximum points in 2-1 win over La Union on Saturday in a League match.

Midfieder – Luther Munakandafa (Notts County)

The Notts County youngster is slowly getting more minutes for the senior team as he came in as a substitute to give an impressive show- making clever runs in the box and was fouled and won a penalty in the team ‘s 2-1 loss to Derby County. Although they lost the match, Munakandafa’ s individual brilliant performance was enough to earn him a position in our team of the week. Sofarscore gave him a 7.4 /10 rating.

Midfieder – Njabulo Mpofu- (Sered’ FC)

The former Telen Vision defensive midfielder is still ‘rocking’ in Slovakia after another brilliant performance for Sered in the 3rd division. Following his goal in the last weekend match for the club, the 27-year-old Zimbabwean impressed once again as the team won 1-0 against Hamsek Academy on Saturday.

Forward – Tavonga Kuleya (Doncaster Rovers)

The 17-year-old- naturally a winger and is also capable of doing defensive work- has been outstanding every time he is ‘trown’ in the senior team and was again impressive coming on as a substitute in Doncaster’s 4-1 win over Sutton on Saturday in a League two encounter

Forward – Bill Antonio (KV Mechelen)

Bill Antonio was in impressive form for KV Mechelen reserve side as they crush Lyra-Leirse 5-0 on Sunday with Antonio involved in the set up of three of those goals as he played full-game. The Young Mechelen side has been on fire, registering 15 points from 8 games sitting 3rd on the log, three points behind log leaders ahead of their battle against rivals RC Mechelen next week. Antonio has started in all eight matches so far.

Forward Benjani Mwaruwari Junior (Yeoville Town)

The 17-year-old son to former Warriors skipper Benjani Mwaruwari was impressive in the start of the week scoring a wonderful free-Kick as Yeoville Town proceed to the second round of the Somerset Men’s Premier Cup after a 3-3 draw in the normal time and 7-8 on penalties win against Keynsham Town on Tuesday. Benji jnr also converted the first penalty.
