Bhasera Roped In To Replace Jirira
STRAIGHT IN: Supersport United and Warriors veteran left-back Onismor Bhasera is back in the Warriors squad after called in as an emergency replacement for US-based Tendai Jirira.
The 35-year-old overlapping left-back has been called up by the Warriors technical team to replace Tendai Jirira who failed to arrive yesterday after missing his flight.
The US-based Jirira was scheduled to arrive in Harare yesterday afternoon from Washington DC via Ethiopia, but the squad left Harare before he could arrive.
The technical team had to make an emergency plan after discovering that the US-based natural left-back could not make it in time for departure from Harare, thereby ruling him out of today’s encounter against Botswana.
Bhasera who last played competitively for the Warriors against Liberia in a 3-0 win, Africa Cup of Nations 2017 qualifier at the National sports stadium, is a heavy contender for the left back position when Zimbabwe take on Botswana this evening.
The ever consistent Bhasera has so far featured in 13 out of Supersport United’s 21 games of the season, helping them to a third spot so far with 35pts from 21 games.
Meanwhile the Warriors arrived last night in Francistown and had their first feel of the match venue this morning ahead of kick off at 18h00 at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium.
